4 Hot Spots in Miami That Aren’t On South Beach

You’ll no doubt have heard all about South Beach. From Lincoln Road and Fifth Street to people-watching and the Art Deco district, SoBe is not without its attractions. It’s not the be-all and end-all of Miami, though. Here are four hot spots in Miami that you can enjoy without ever encountering the feeling of sand in your shoes.

The Electric Pickle Company, Midtown

Electric Pickle on N Miami Avenue is something of a local sensation when it comes to Miami dance clubs. It impressed the folks over at Rolling Stone magazine too – they named this popular Miami nightspot one of the top 50 clubs in the country. Head over to the club on Wednesday through Saturday to bust a few of your favorite moves to the hippest DJs and hottest live performances. If you get a little too hot under the collar dancing with 300 like-minded revelers, you can chill out on the outdoor patio.

Jimmy’z Kitchen Wynwood

Forbes named Wynwood one of America’s “Best Hipster Neighborhoods,” so it should come as little surprise that there are more than a few culinary hot spots on offer. On the second Saturday of each month, you can head off on the Art Walk to discover the hood’s mural-rich walls and 70 plus galleries. Take a load off afterward and relax in Jimmy’z Kitchen on N Miami Avenue – a vibrant eatery that has notched up more than a few awards in its own right.

Tobacco Road, Brickell

As dive bars go, it’s unlikely that you’ll find one as well-liked as Tobacco Road in the Brickell neighborhood. Established in 1912, this local hangout is something of an old-timer, but it still knows how to throw a party. Nights here typically last until five in the morning, so you can expect a good time – and maybe a sore head in the morning. You’ll probably have so much fun that you’ll want to visit again, so consider staying at a nearby hotel. Gogobot reviewers have plenty of nice things to say about the Viceroy Miami.

Versailles, Little Havana

If you visit Miami and you don’t swing by the neighborhood of Little Havana, you’ll rue the day you missed out. This Cuban-inspired locale – as vibrant as it is cultural – boasts an eat street that’s difficult to beat. Head to Versailles on SW 8th Street to tuck into Cuban samplers such as the Criollo and the Classic. If you’re just passing through, you can still get a little Latin fever courtesy of the frothy cafe cubanos served from the restaurant’s outdoor coffee window.

It’s often said that there’s more than one Miami to discover, and these four hot spots – without a grain of sand in sight – certainly prove that there’s more to the Magic City than South Beach. Why not head over to see if you can discover your own hot spot
