Many child development experts argue that children who have adventures with their parents will grow up to be happier and better-rounded adults. Whilst this hasn’t yet been proven, there is some logic behind it. As parents, naturally you will have hopes and dreams for your children as they grow up, whilst placing importance on experiences which will help to teach them something about life.
Family holidays are often important times for both parents and children, as it gives you time to reconnect as a family and enjoy spending quality time together in one another’s company, especially if your children are getting older. You are away from the usual distractions and chores of day to day life and it is a great time to take part in fun adventures or visit amazing destinations.
There are many places all around the world which we are all just itching to visit, whether it be a bright white beach or the hustle and bustle of a far-away city. Letting your children experience these new sights and sounds with you is a wonderful thing, but where are the best destinations for children to visit growing up?
Rovaniemi, Finland
Whilst most parents try not to discuss Christmas with their children until at least December, there is nothing more magical than being away in another country for Christmas. Finland has perhaps one of the most magical Christmases of all, complete with snow, lodges and Santa, of course. Children will learn so much about a new culture and new experiences and are sure to love spending the festive season in a log cabin surrounded by snow.

Hawaii, USA
One of the most beautiful destinations in the world, Hawaii is a perfect holiday location for children. With laidback vibes, stunning beaches and plenty of nature to get stuck into, you’ll be surprised at just how much there is to do across the islands. Children will love spending hours on the beach or visiting Hawaii’s historical sites, like Pearl Harbor. Be sure to spend some time learning about local culture and eating some of Hawaii’s fresh food offerings, such as Poke and Croissadas.
Orlando, Florida
Orlando is perhaps every child’s dream holiday destination. Apart from the obvious theme parks to visit, there is so much more to explore in Orlando. Get to know some of Florida’s natural inhabitants, such as alligators and manatees, head to a water park and take a stroll down International Drive, which is full of bars, restaurants and the world’s biggest McDonald’s.
There are also some great shopping malls, so if you want to pick up some great additions to your wardrobe, like girls boutique clothing, quality sportswear and beauty products, Orlando is the place to do so. If you’d rather experience something away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist attractions, head to Wekiwa Springs, where you can canoe in crystal clear water.
Canada
It’s hard to narrow down Canada to just one amazing family-friendly destination, as there is so much to see and do all over the country. Whether you head to Ontario and let your children experience Niagra Falls, or to Banff to marvel at the mountain ranges and stunning scenery, there are some attractions and destinations in Canada that you just can’t miss. As well as this, Canada is home to some wonderful history and cultures, so it really is the perfect destination for all families.
Costa Rica
Perhaps one of the more exotic family holiday locations, Costa Rica is a place just waiting to be explored. If you’re searching for fun and adventurous activities, like horseback riding and water rafting, or just want to spend days relaxing on the beach, there is something here for everyone. You will also have the chance to see some amazing natural wildlife, like tree frogs, monkeys, sloths and toucans.
