The craftsman design style is more commonly known as the American Craftsman style that originates from the American Arts and Crafts movement. It is a domestic American architectural, interior design, landscape design, applied arts and decorative arts style and lifestyle philosophy that began in the last years of the 19th century. As a comprehensive design and art movement, the craftsman design style remained popular into the 1930s. However, in decorative arts and architectural design it has continued with numerous revivals and restoration projects through present times.

Craftsman homes are defined primarily by their time period – the 1900s through the 1930s – and include everything from bungalows and Prairie-style homes to Arts and Crafts homes. For the craftsman-style home, it is all about the architectural details. Low, pitched gable and hipped roofs, tapered and squared entry columns, exposed rafter tails, custom built-ins and oak woodwork are some of the things that take the center stage in the craftsman homes.

The craftsman décor is a bit more difficult to distinguish, though the furniture often includes wood pieces made with straight lines and vertical slats, in earthy color palettes.

These were just a small part of the features that you should know of when we are talking about the craftsman design style. Since today’s collection is both about the craftsman design and the craftsman bedroom interior combined into one, we are going to give some credit to the bedroom too.

The modern life doesn’t offer much time dedicated to relaxation and sleeping, which makes it really important to make the best use of the little relaxation time that you have left.

The best way to achieve that is by turning your bedroom into a personal paradise located in the base of your home. But turning a bedroom into a peaceful relaxation den is not that easy. There are numerous things that you need to be aware of before starting the process.

First of all, you need to make sure that you and your significant other agree on the color scheme that your new craftsman bedroom will be in. And no, the color is not something that you should randomly choose, you need to make the color of the walls, the furniture and the bed set match without being too monotonous or too different from each other.

After that, you need to find furniture that will fit your room size as well as your needs, oh and, don’t forget, you are building it in craftsman style which means that you should choose something a bit more similar to the traditional if you can’t find craftsman furniture.

But the most important feature of your bedroom that is going to directly affect your comfort and enjoyment is the bed set that Frette offers which will make your bed feel great not only the way it looks, but the way it feels too. Enjoy!
