There is not a person in this world who doesn’t like to travel. Traveling means exploring different regions, breathing different air, trying different foods, and meeting amazing people. Traveling is also something we do when we want to relax, or quite the opposite, when we want to go on an adventure. Some people, when traveling, want to focus on as many dazzling wines and craft beers as they can. But, others prefer to stay away from those ‘vices.’ Since you are here, reading this article, you probably belong to the latter group. It doesn’t matter whether you just won a fight against your addiction or you just don’t like alcohol. There are many sober travel destinations in the US! And that will be our topic of the day. Today, we will talk about some of the best sober travel destinations around the US, so keep on reading.
Denver, Colorado
One of the best sober travel destinations in the US has to be Denver, Colorado. Here, you can enjoy both outdoor and indoor activities all year round. And, you can do all of that without even thinking about alcohol. Who can think about that while visiting the Denver Zoo, Aquarium, and Art Museum? Or when going rafting and zip-lining in the nearby Breckenridge or skiing in the Denver mountains? It doesn’t matter what you like to do; Denver will give you the break you deserve.
And, while you are there, be sure to buy a ticket for some concert at Red Rocks! During summer and autumn, there are concerts almost every weekend. However, if concerts are not your thing, and you have done all the things mentioned above, we suggest going to downtown Denver where you can eat in some of the best restaurants, shop ’till you drop, and have fun watching street performers.
Orlando, Florida
You have been fighting your addiction for a long time and deserve a break. The best way to do that is by traveling to some sober destination and having some sober fun—that is something all experts from Bright Futures Treatment Center FL would tell you. And, is there a better place for something like this than Orlando, Florida. This is a city where you will awaken your inner child and be truly happy. Here, you can go to Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, etc. Just walking through all of these places will take you days, so don’t worry about getting bored.
Moreover, if you get tired of people, rides, and shows, you can always go to Blue Spring State Park and enjoy nature and all the wonders of the flora and fauna. Or you can listen to the bells singing at Bok Tower Gardens. The International Drive is also nearby, and in it, you can shop, eat, and drink something alcohol-free whenever you want.
San Antonio, Texas
If you have always wanted to visit the Lone State Star, this is your sign to book a flight and start packing your bags for your upcoming vacation! Or to just fill your tank and go there! San Antonio and the entire state of Texas are perfect for driving. While there, we suggest going to Alamo, Natural Bridge Caverns, King William Historic District, The San Antonio River Walk, etc.
The places mentioned above are more art, history, and culture-related. But, if you are on the look out for something relaxing or something more fun, you can go to the Sea World San Antonio or to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. In the latter, you can watch some of the best shows in the world—shows that will take your mind off alcohol.
Other Sober Travel Destinations in the US (and Beyond)
According to many people who have already gone through everything you are going through now, Denver, Orlando, and San Antonio are the best sober travel destinations in the US. But, that doesn’t mean that you can’t go to other states and cities. For instance, you can go to Nashville, Tennessee—the soberest city in the entire USA. Or, you can go to San Francisco—the healthiest city in the entire USA.
Where you go doesn’t really matter—what matters is that you find a state and city filled with sober activities and great ways to have fun. So, do some research on your own, too—after all, you know what is best for you. And, if you decide to travel somewhere across the ocean someday, we recommend Sri Lanka, Morocco, or Japan. These are the places where alcohol is either forbidden or not liked by most of the residents.
Sober Activities to Try
And, speaking of great ways to have sober fun, we have to mention some of them too. Activities are a vital part of your sober vacation. They will help you have fun, relax, and forget about your past addiction. Moreover, if your vacation is filled with a lot of free time, you might get tempted to go somewhere you shouldn’t – to a bar, pub, club, or someplace similar. So, before you arrive at your destination, we suggest doing research on the place you are going to and signing up for as many activities as you can. Make those activities memorable this summer – that is a great way to both treat your addictions and recover from them.
If you don’t know what to do, don’t worry, we have some ideas. For instance, besides sightseeing the city you went to, you can also go on a biking tour, try a beach activity, go to nature-like areas to camp and hike, go to the spa, find a friend and try local food, etc. All of these activities, as well as many more, you can do in all the best sober travel destinations in the US!
