Askja is one of the most popular tourist destination in Iceland. It is a caldera situated in the central highlands of Iceland. The name Askja comes from a complex of nested calderas within the surrounding Dyngjufjöll mountains (1.510m). Meaning of Askja is box or caldera in Icelandic. Iceland is one of the most beautiful country in Europe. Iceland cover an area of 103,000 km2 (40,000 sq mi) with total population of 325,671 inhabitants. The major economical, political and tourist center is Reykjavík. Also Reykjavík is the capital city of Iceland. Points of interests in Iceland are: Askja, Viti lake, Blue Lagoon, Golden Circle, Gullfoss waterfall, Goðafoss, Dynjandi…. Iceland is a country with awesome landscapes, amazing nature, beautiful lakes, magnificent old architecture….

Askja is a stratovolcano in the Icelandic highlands.  In the Dyngjufjöll mountains which surround the Askja caldera can be found the canyon of dragons,impressive Drekagil and two other interesting volcanic systems: Herðubreið and Kverkfjöll. The region is only accessible for a few months of the year ( from late June until early October). Víti is a warm geothermal lake situated at the bottom of one of Askja’s craters. This lake is naturally formed. It is a prove that mother nature is so strong and she can create whatever she wants. Viti lake is a perfect destination for lovers of nature, clean and fresh air, awesome landscepes… If you want to escape from a noise in the big cities and you want to forget everyday duties, than we suggest to visit Viti lake and enjoy in his beauty.
