The Villa Medici is a large architectural complex in a mannerism style which was built for Cardinal Ricci da Montepulciano in 1540. Later on, Ferdinando de’ Medici bought it in 1576 and the Medici kept the palace in their hands until Napoleon has housed the French Academy in its walls since 1803 and till now it is still remaining as a place of active use.
