Before we say anything else, we want to note that Spitbank Fort is a 129 years old sea fort built in the period of 1861-1878. Why do we show it to you and we encourage you to visit it? Well the only reason is because this fort today is a luxury hotel.
This fort was build as a result of the 1859 Royal Commission. It is located in the Solent, near Portsmouth in England. After many years serving to the military as of April 2012 is owned by Clarenco LLP (owners of Horse Sand Fort and No Man’s Land Fort) and has been renovated for use as a luxury spa hotel and retreat with 9 bedroom suites.
