If you own a motorhome, you’ll already know that the possibilities are endless when it comes to travel opportunities. Whether you prefer staying in the UK and checking out all the sights that are on your doorstep, or you’d rather venture further afield, the list of destinations remains an exciting one. So, if you’re trying to decide where to go for your next motorhome adventure, look no further. Travelling to Europe can be one of the most unforgettable trips you’ll do in your motorhome, whether it’s with the whole family or just your significant other.
Drive across the continent or make a beeline for one country; the choice is all yours. However, if you are visiting Europe for the first time, or you just want to make sure you’re prepared, there are a few tips you can follow to make sure your trip is memorable for the right reasons. Premier Motorhomes offers you a travel guide to Europe to help you on your way.
Do your research
This may sound like an obvious point to make, but you could be surprised at the extra information you find once you start doing some proper planning. You may end up at an amazing festival you didn’t know was happening, or even end up changing the dates of your trip due to the weather.
If you’re visiting multiple countries or regions, you’ll want to look into the various areas and find out if they’re right for you. This is your opportunity to find the best towns, beaches or countryside that you’re looking for, along with any monuments or attractions that you’ve always wanted to see.
Know The Law
Road laws can vary from country to country, and some will ask you to carry certain equipment. If you are found without the right equipment you could be subject to a fine; not what you need on a holiday!
For example, in France and Italy you require a warning triangle and a reflective jacket, while in Greece you also need a first aid kit and fire extinguisher. In Spain, you should carry 2 warning triangles and a spare set of bulbs.
It can be stressful driving in a new country, especially in a rather large motorhome! Ensure you know where you’re going by investing in a GPS sat nav system so that you can get from A to B without getting lost. After all, there can be a lot of narrow winding roads in Europe and you won’t want to get caught going the wrong way!
Make sure it is programmed to work in other countries and ensure the maps are up to date too.
Learn Basic Phrases
If you are planning on travelling to Europe, you should really make the effort to learn some of the basic phrases. At the very least, this could help you to understand road signs and say hello to anyone you come across!
There is no doubt that everyone in Europe will be able to speak perfect English, but that’s no excuse for not knowing how to thank someone in their native language!
So, for your next motorhome adventure, you should hopefully be well prepared and only need to concentrate on having fun.
