Attracting over 190,000 visitors per year, Nambung is a national park in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. The park is situated about 200 kilometers north of Perth and also covers an area of 17,487 hectares. It contains the Pinnacles Desert and that is characteristic for this national park only. The word Nambung has Indigenous Australian origin which means something crooked. It is referring to the Nambung River that drains into the area. This attraction extends its boundaries north to Southern Beekeepers Nature Reserve and south to Wanagarren Nature Reserve. The park officially was formed in 1956.
If you decide to go there be sure to bring a hat, sturdy footwear and bottled water. Also, take a good mood, happiness and adventurous spirit by yourself. First of all, it is important to mention that The Pinnacles Desert Center has values of cultural and natural heritage of the area. Wonderful structures from natural limestone reach heights up to 5 meters. They were formed when the sea retreated and left the remains of shells. If you want a drive around landscape, it is allow driving light vehicles, but you must remain on the marked track. Extraordinary view, yellow sands and unusual white dunes can also be perceived from the Pinnacles Lookout. No camping is allowed, but there are also many operators offering day trips or extended tours and that satisfy the requirements of tourists.

On the other hand, Nambung National Park is also known for its beautiful beaches at Kangaroo Point and Hangover Bay. This area abounds with many wildlife features such as western grey kangaroo, whales, snakes, many other reptiles and around 90 different species of birds. If you want to visit Nambung National Park, you can go there year-round, but the best season is during September and October. At that time the wildflowers are blooming and the landscapes with sunrises and sunsets are spectacular.
