When it comes to embarking on a tour, especially one through countries where the culture and lifestyle are completely different to your own, there is always an adventure to be had. For many travelers, however, this can come as quite a shock and they soon realize they aren’t as prepared as they would like to be. If this sounds like you, we are here to help.
What Are You Going to Wear?
One of the greatest aspects of an adventure tour is that it is likely to take you to a number of countries where the climate is vastly different. This can cause a bit of confusion as to what to pack in your limited luggage. If there is one thing to remember, it’s that you aren’t likely to do any formal events, so keep it casual. A singlet shirt, a t-shirt and long sleeved shirt are going to be your go-to items for the journey. They don’t have to be expensive, but they do have to be breathable. The same goes for bottoms. Kohl’s has some great discounts on their Groupon Coupons page for basic items like training pants which are designed to breathe and keep you warm. As for shoes – two pairs, no more! A pair for hiking or extensive walking, and another for more casual strolls along the beach.
Staying Fresh
If you’re part of a tour then it’s safe to say that you won’t always have access to a shower, however, you will have access to bathe. Given that it’s likely to be in fresh water or streams which connect villages, look for eco-friendly and biodegradable soaps and toiletries that won’t harm the environment as you travel. Your tour company should be able to point you in the right direction.
Protect Your Belongings
Accept one thing – you’re going to get wet! Whether it’s from a luxurious waterfall or due to adverse or seasonal weather conditions that cause your group to get saturated in rain. While there isn’t much you can do (or want to do) about this, you can protect your belongings. Get yourself a waterproof satchel where you can store your precious items such as your passport, cell-phone and cash so that they’re always protected.
Pack an Open Mind
Along with seeing and tasting different foods you’re going to be immersed in cultures which you may have had no idea existed. Be cautious of always thinking that people or communities are doing things wrong and that you can do it better, and appreciate what and why they’re doing it. Travelling, especially as part of an adventure tour is a learning experience, so keep your mind open and be ready to appreciate.
With these four tips you are well on your way to a well prepared for adventure, so go on, get out there and enjoy what the world has to offer!
