Perfect Sailing Getaways

Holiday season is just around the corner and that old yacht is just longing to get back on the seaside. There is nothing more special than sailing on the open sea, swimming in the azure sea and visiting the coast line of some secluded island. There are no limits when it comes to yachting; there is no destination that is out of reach. So come sail away and see what are some of the best locations for sailing this summer! We picked out just a few of the best getaways for you that you mustn’t miss!

Greece

Sailing to this magical destination certainly has its perks. It has a rich history and every coast line and every wave makes you feel like you are reliving one of the ancient Greek myths. Greece is surrounded with four seas and thousand of islands and selecting just one group of these magnificent islands seems almost impossible. Some of the favorites are definitely the Myriad islands, also Cyclades that includes Mykonos and Santorini, and of course Skorpios, Lefkada and the great Corfu.

Croatia

It has gained enormous popularity within the last few years and with a good reason too! It has a coast line that spreads almost 2000 km and over a thousand of islands. Sometimes even called the “New Greece” it represents one of the best Mediterranean destinations. The Dalmatian coast line is a must see, and also the Kornati or Elafiti archipelago. And while you are exploring, don’t forget the islands with centuries of history such as Hvar, Brac or Korcula.

French Riviera

If you are looking to combine the luxury and glamour with hedonism and history, you are on the right path! The French Riviera offers it all. Monaco, Nice, Cannes, Saint Tropez and Monte Carlo, just sit back and live the celebrity lifestyle. But it doesn’t end there, if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere and are looking for somewhere to escape, the French Riviera offers a whole different side. The islands of Port Cros and Porquerolles are made for a quiet and peaceful vacation.

British Virgin Islands

For someone who just loves the open sea, the British Virgin Islands are a perfect place. They say that this is one of the easiest places to sail. The calm sea and all of the islands just within a sight from each other make this destination a true sailing getaway. Perhaps the most beautiful attraction is the Tortola with its coral reefs, sandy beaches and green mountains. It gives you an impression of something out of a fairytale.

The Americas

When you think America you automatically think New York, Manhattan, bright lights and Sex and the City. Well you couldn’t be more wrong. From the palm lined coast lines with powdery sandy beaches to the strong rock formations and rugged shores, America has it all. If you are looking for a place with cool temperatures and a rich cultural content then Seattle is a perfect yachting town for you. On the other hand, if you enjoy cobblestone streets and oak trees perhaps Charleston is a better choice. And if you want to stop and relax for a while we mustn’t forget Newport on Rhode Island that offers world class regattas and probably the best clam chowder at Black Pearl. And of course there are Fort Lauderdale and Key West in Florida that are possibly one of the best yachting towns in this area. They are described as one of those ‘Old Towns’ that have everything you would expect from a yachting destination.

These are just some of the destinations we picked out for your holiday getaway. Choosing just one of these fabulous places is somewhat impossible. The key when deciding to sail is to come prepared. If you own a boat, perhaps a smart choice is to look up companies such as Fix My Boat, who provide boat owners the opportunity to contact multiple businesses in just one simple step. Also, keep in mind that any vacation is always more fun when you aren’t alone. So call up your friends and family, fix up that old yacht and sail away. All these beautiful destinations are just waiting to be explored.
