Reykjavik is the capital and largest city of Iceland. It is located in the south-western part of the Island, on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. It covers an area of 274 square kilometres and has a population of about 120 000 inhabitants. With the surrounding settlements this number increases, so the wider area of the Reykjavik is home to nearly 60% of the total population of Iceland. This city today is cultural, political and economic centre of the island nation. Northernmost capital of the world, Reykjavik, is really a fascinating place. It features elegant and charming buildings, some of which are very special and extraordinary.

For the people who want to escape from the rhythm of city life, there are huge natural attractions, such as the Golden Circle Road and volcanic peninsula Reikjanes. The biggest unusual places in this city for all visitors are geothermal pools, mostly outdoors, where the water temperature is from 8 to 43 °C. Most of these basins have a skating rink and fountains. Also here you have the possibility to diving and the introduction of the subsoil formations on volcanic soil. Chilled water, which passes through the tube and where the temperature dropped to 30 or 40 degrees, is used to the middle of the field, near Reykjavik. There is made a large open spa-centre. It is a must-see tourist attraction – the Blue Lagoon.
