Bled island is a lake in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia. Bled Island is the only island in Slovenia. Located in Lake Bled near the town of Bled. The lake is situated in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia. This place is one of the most popular tourist sites in Slovenia. Lake Bled from the capital Ljubljana is 55 km away.

The lake is of mixed glacial and tectonic origins. The length of the lake is 2,120 m (6,960 ft) and a width is 1,380 m (4,530 ft). The maximum depth is 30.6 m (100 ft). Lake Bled is situated in a picturesque environment, surrounded by beautiful mountains and forests which depending on the season give a special beauty.

As already mentioned Bled Island is the only island in Slovenia. It is a very small island and it has several buildings wrom which the most important stands the church which is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The church was built in the late 17th century. The church is decorated with beautiful Gothic frescoes. The church has a tower 52 meters high. If you want to visit the church, must climb through Baroque stairway consists of 98 stone steps.
